Terms of Service
Important: Santa Barbara Apostille Office is a private document preparation service. We are not a government agency and are not affiliated with the California Secretary of State or the U.S. Department of State.
These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of santabarbaraapostille.com and the services of Santa Barbara Apostille Office (“we,” “us,” or “our”). By using our website, booking an appointment, or placing an order, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use our services.
1. Who We Are
We are a private document preparation, notarization, certified translation, and apostille courier service located at 1117 State St, Santa Barbara, CA 93101. We act as your authorized agent to prepare your documents and submit them to the appropriate authority. Apostille certificates are issued only by the California Secretary of State or the U.S. Department of State, not by us.
2. Our Services
We coordinate California state and federal apostilles, notarization, certified and sworn translation, embassy legalization, and related courier services. We do not provide legal advice, and nothing on our website or in our communications is legal advice. If you need guidance on how your documents will be used abroad, consult a licensed attorney or the receiving authority.
3. No Guarantee of Acceptance
Whether a document is eligible for an apostille, and whether a completed apostille or translation is accepted abroad, is decided by the issuing government office, the destination country, and the receiving party, not by us. Government offices set their own requirements, fees, and processing times, which can change without notice. We do not guarantee that any authority will accept your document.
4. Your Responsibilities
- Provide accurate, complete information and genuine, unaltered documents that you have the right to submit.
- Bring a valid, unexpired government-issued photo ID to any appointment that includes notarization, and sign only in the notary’s presence.
- Confirm the destination country and intended use of your document before ordering.
- Arrive on time for your appointment, or give us at least 2 hours’ notice to reschedule.
- Provide a correct return address. You are responsible for reshipping costs caused by an incorrect address you supplied.
5. Fees, Payment, and Refunds
Our fees are shown before you pay and are charged in full at booking through Square. Prices are in U.S. dollars and include the government fees, shipping, and add-ons shown in your total. Cancellations, no-shows, and refunds are governed by our Refund Policy.
6. Turnaround Times
Turnaround estimates describe our own handling time. They do not include the processing time of a government office, embassy, or shipping carrier, which we do not control. Rush and same-day options speed up our part of the work only and depend on government office hours and availability.
7. Appointments and Mobile Service
Appointment times are reserved when your payment is complete. For mobile appointments we will call to confirm your address before the visit, and travel outside our usual service area may require an additional fee that we will confirm with you first.
8. Text Messages
If you give us a mobile number with an order, Santa Barbara Apostille Office will send you transactional text messages about that order, such as your booking confirmation and appointment details. We do not send marketing texts, and providing a mobile number is not required to purchase any service.
- Message frequency varies with your order activity.
- Message and data rates may apply, according to your mobile carrier plan.
- Reply STOP at any time to stop text messages. Reply HELP for help, or contact us at the phone number or email below.
- Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.
- Your mobile number is handled as described in our Privacy Policy and is never shared with third parties for marketing.
9. Uploaded Documents
When you upload documents, you confirm that you have the right to share them with us for the purpose of your order. We use them only to provide the services you requested, as described in our Privacy Policy.
10. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, our total liability for any claim arising out of or relating to our services is limited to the service fees you paid us for the affected order. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, or for delays, losses, or rejections caused by government offices, embassies, shipping carriers, or other third parties. If an error on our part causes a rejection, we will resubmit at no charge or refund our service fee, as described in our Refund Policy.
11. Website Use
Information on our website is provided for general guidance and may change. Do not misuse the site, attempt to disrupt it, or submit false orders. We may refuse or cancel any order we reasonably believe is fraudulent or unlawful, with a refund of any amount paid for work not performed.
12. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Any dispute will be handled in the state or federal courts located in Santa Barbara County, California.
13. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. The date at the top of this page shows the latest revision, and using our services after a change means you accept the updated Terms.
