Residency Visas
The D7 (passive income), D8 (digital nomad) and other residency visas generally ask for an FBI background check with a federal apostille, issued recently. Spouses and children applying with you usually need apostilled marriage and birth certificates. Requirements are set by the consulate or visa center handling your application, so work from their current checklist.
After You Arrive
Residence renewals, registering a marriage, exchanging a driver’s license and enrolling children can ask for more apostilled documents. Bring extra apostilled copies of key records with you; replacing them from Portugal takes far longer.
