Powers of Attorney for Property
To sell, buy or manage property in India from California, owners typically sign a power of attorney here, have it notarized and apostilled, and send it to the attorney-holder. In India it may need to be adjudicated for stamp duty and, for some transactions, registered, often within a set time after it arrives. Your lawyer or the sub-registrar in India will confirm the steps. See power of attorney apostilles.
Education and Employment
Universities, employers and professional councils may ask for apostilled U.S. degrees and transcripts. Marriage and birth certificates come up for spouse visas and family matters.
